Mahindra Scorpio Packs Quite a Punch

The flagship SUV of Mahindra & Mahindra, Mahindra Scorpio was the first SUV from the company’s stable that was built with an eye on the global market. Decorated with several coveted awards including “Best Car of the Year”, “Car of the Year”, and “Best SUV of the Year”, Scorpio has been a major success in the national and international markets. In a bid to maintain its lead in this segment, Mahindra has decided to provide a facelift to the vehicle and the new generation Scorpio is expected to be available in the market in 2014. The new model will be lighter, more fuel efficient, and less expensive than its predecessor and will come with a 2.2-liter engine from the Cheetah XUV 500. Scorpio has superb acceleration and pick up. It can go from 0kmph to 60kmph in just 11.2 seconds.

While three variants of Scorpio come with five speed manual transmission gearbox that offer a city mileage of  10.5kmpl and a highway mileage of 15.4kmpl, the fourth variant of the SUV comes with an automatic transmission gearbox that offers a city mileage of 9.7kmpl and a highway mileage of 14kmpl. The intercooler mounted on top of the engine prevents the car from heating and the two-stage chain drive system keeps noises and vibrations to the minimum even in top speed.

Comfort and safety

Mahindra Scorpio comes packed with several comfort and safety features that are rare to find in a vehicle in its segment. These include a wooden center console with neatly placed switches and buttons, tilt steering, power windows, remote fuel lid and tailgate opener, smart rain sensing wipers, digital immobilizer, crash protection crumple zones, and intrusion beams on the side.
